A Case of Obstructive Acute Renal Failure in Advanced Gastric Cancer

Abstract
one of major causes of acute failure induced by bilateral urinary tract obstruction is malignant tumor. Of these, advanced gastric cancer(AGC) is extremely rare and furthermore. Spontaneous recovery of renal function from obstructive ARF caused
by
AGC
was not reported in the review of literatures.
The 32-year-old man who complained of abdominal distention and lower abdominal discomfort for 4 days was admitted to Inha university hopsital. We confirmed poorly differentiated adenocarcinoma of the stomach, malignant ascites, and both lower
urinary
tract obstructions. The patient showed rapid deterioration of renal function with anuria in his clinical course and we conducted hemodialysis for him. Although mechanism was not identified, his urine volume was began to increase without any
intervention
toward the malignancy on the hospital day 24, and then serum creatinine level was normalized without subsequent dialysis treatment. He is followed up at our outpatient clinic after first systemic FAM chemotheray.
We report a case of acute renal failure in Borrmann type IV advanced gastric cancer with malignant ascites which presented with obstructive renal failure.
